ART AT ST PAUL’S
At St. Paul’s, our aim is to provide a high-quality Art and Design education that inspires pupils to acquire artistic knowledge and apply it with skill and understanding, while engaging with a wide range of artists.
The Art curriculum at St. Paul’s is planned around the following key elements:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Printmaking
- Textiles
- Collage
- 3D
- Digital Art
In Early Years, children have frequent opportunities to express their ideas and feelings through artistic techniques, as they begin to notice patterns, develop mark making, and explore colour.
In Key Stage 1, children develop their understanding of line, colour, shape, and style. They learn about a range of techniques and media used to create different styles of artwork and experiment with materials. Pupils study art from across the world, recognising similarities and differences between artists and applying these ideas to their own work.
In Key Stage 2, children continue to develop their knowledge, techniques, and control in the use of a range of materials, with a growing focus on tone and colour. They are given opportunities to experiment and further develop their creativity through a variety of media while studying the work of different artists.
